Bisons And Trees

DSC07649.JPG
After seeing surprisingly little wildlife, we encountered many Bisons on a single day.

The animals are big.

In the background a Bison is blocking the road.

A ranger is blocking the boardwalk because the Bison is just too close. Perhaps surprisingly the big herbivores of the park (including the deer varieties) kill more people each year (usually by trampling them) than the predators do.

The parking lot at the start of that boardwalk. The scene was a bit surreal. A small herd of bisons walked through the cars, sometimes very close to people including children. This one was behind and suddenly bursted out from between two pit toilets, not far from me, after crossing a river and a road.

Here is a short video of the Bisons in the parking lot, including a few young ones. Bear with me, it's about my first video with the RX100.

There is Robin in the tree (not because of the bisons, this is already further down the road).

We hiked to Storm Point on Yellowstone Lake that day and picknicked.

A very typical impression. We think that many trees criss-crossing the forest everywhere died in the big fire of 1988. They were never removed (because it is a nature preserve).

Michelle urged me against my judgement to take a picture of the deer next to the road. To take such a difficult picture (focus, light, motion, frame) while driving is virtually impossible. I leave it in here as a reminder ;-).

A picture of the lower campground bathrooms in the dusk. Romantic, isn't it?

As always, big versions of the pictures can be found in the folder big.
